Keiko Fukuda Shihan passed away yesterday at the age of 99. She was the last surviving student of the founder of judo, Jigoro Kano, and the highest ranking female judoka in history. She was promoted to 10th dan (degree) black belt just last year, a rank that at the time was held only by 3 other people, all men living in Japan. Fukuda Shihan left her homeland and refused marriage to achieve her dreams of training in judo, constantly battling gender discrimination which kept her from being promoted as quickly as men less skilled than her. “As far as I know, no one has lived their life completely for judo as I have.”

I salute anyone dedicating their life for pursuit of something greater than themselves. She must have been quite a woman.

Here is a link to part of a film about her.

Square Enix announced earlier this month that it would be opening a new café and merchandise shop in East Side Shinjuku called Artnia. As you can easily imagine, the café menu comes with a variety of Square Enix-inspired beverages and snacks — including ones from the Final Fantasy series. Thirsty for a Shiva cocktail? How about a Materia cocktail? Or maybe ice cream with a chocolate Buster Sword busting into it? It’s quite similar to Luida’s Bar for the Dragon Quest series.

If i do end up going to Tokyo this is one of the first places I am hitting other than the actual SE store.

*fangirl gross sobbing*

-scrolling through, stop at shinra logo-

…Ooh. Ooh yes I could get on board with this.

I need to make these things.

Yes good more FFVII today.

…Oh okay then. Same.

<.<

Let it not be said that Square doesn’t make good swag every now and then. To japan or bust! For tea time and potion drinking!

Cool Leaf by Kazuo Kawasaki.

Cool Leaf is a minimal keyboard designed by Japan-based design Kazuo Kawasaki for Minebea. The keyboard is essentially a large screen with touch-sensitive input sensors. Characters appear on the mirrored panel for a sophisticated and futuristic aesthetic. The combined technology of input devices, lighting devices, and force sensors allowed the company to manufacture this cross-sectional device.

Misato, who has been previously hired by her High School to rid their auditorium of pigeons, asserts that her falcon, Momotaro, will get the job done.

“The falcon is a divine punishment against crows. When their eyes meet the glare of the falcon, they will definitely not return” she says without a single doubt in her mind.

About

A bunch of notes and cheats that will remind me and others what I love, what I desire, what I hope for, and what I despair over.
I have many interests: Final Fantasy, Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed, a LOT of anime, cinema, fashion, and fine arts. It's a mix of high and low culture (mostly low), but both are equally valuable in the meaning that's applied them. I have my own OTPs, and I respect many other people's OTPs. I just happen to be very emotionally invested in mine.
